The vaccine, which was developed with German drugmaker BioNTech, currently needs to be stored in ultra-cold freezers that keep it between minus 112 and minus 76 degrees Fahrenheit, according to the FDA. Pfizer said it submitted new data to the U.S. agency that shows the vaccine is stable between minus 13 and 5 degrees Fahrenheit.

Wait for stockpiles of vaccines to be thrown out for improper temp storage.
I just saw a study today saying it could be stored at regular freezer temperatures. And that only one dose of the Pfizer is necessary.

The study data suggests that one dose is nearly as effective as two, but not quite. The polio vaccine is 90% effective after two doses, 99% effective after 3, and in the US we don't consider you fully vaccinated until you've received 4.
The Moderna vaccine has been shown to be about 82% effective after one dose. But why settle for 82% when you can have 95%? I'd take a third dose if it got me closer to 100%.
I really don’t understand why the storage condition of the vaccine would be the FDA’s call—if Pfizer wants, they should conduct the proper stability studies at the target temperature(s), and gauge the stability. Not the FDA’s call.
They SUDDENLY discover they don’t need -112 to -76 F, but -13 to -5 F is OK. They raised the temperature requirements by 100 degrees???
That is pure BS. They knew about the challenges of maintaining it at -100F for over a year and they would have been conducting extensive research to see if they could relax those temperature limits. They would have thoroughly characterized the vaccine efficacy as a function of storage temperature and duration.
This just doesn’t pass the smell test.
Pfizer does the study and submits the data. The FDA has the final choice, as they make the rules for how it gets handled, not Pfizer.
-5 to -12 F "is" regular freezer temperature.

Sorry, I didn’t read the full story. Pfizer conducted the stability study and submitted it for review and approval.
Perhaps the operative point was in the first paragraph. I should have added:
Pfizer said Friday it is seeking permission from the Food and Drug Administration to store its Covid-19 vaccine ***for two weeks*** at temperatures commonly found in pharmaceutical freezers and refrigerators.
Nevertheless...agreeing with all you said-—100 degrees difference?
Will they be required to have 2-wk exp date on label?
Modifications that seem to only benefit Pfizer and governments...hmmm...

I was borderline re the science to begin with on whether to get. This news just raised my spidey senses.
Next they will be driving these vaccines around in old good Humor trucks ringing the bells.
