Fine, Simpson, breach the dams to gain a little popularity with the fringe crowd. But don’t ever come to the American people again for a single penny of federal relief when the atmospheric rivers and snowstorms hit and bring floods, or the drought starts again and there’s no water out the tap for the farm animals. Dams are there for a reason and fish ladders work. And I’m sure Idaho, along with the rest of America are sick and tired of politicians finding busy work for the sake of busy work.
So, how do salmon reproduce in a river that is dammed if the dams do not have “fish ladders” designed so the salmon can reach their spawning areas far upstream to mate and release fertilized eggs? Do these dams have built in means to permit the salmon to pass or not? If they don’t, then the salmon aren’t ‘fine’ and have not been able to mate. If the dams have been blocking the rivers long enough, the salmon formerly native to those rivers have probably already died off, depending on their lifespan without mating.
Heh. I left 16 years ago. :)
“The visitor center also has a fish ladder viewing room which offers an excellent view of migrating Salmon, Steelhead and Shad. Due to security, visitors must pass through the security gate to gain access. “
Price-wise and emission-wise, there is no USA alternative to hydro electric.
Well, many of these dams have been there for many decades. I’ve watched spawning salmon jumping through the fish ladders.
Salmon get more attention from the GOP than Trump supporters...
GOP: Party of Professional Losers.
Where do they think all this power is going to come from?
” “fish ladders” designed so the salmon can reach their spawning areas far upstream to mate and release fertilized eggs? “
The eggs are released unfertilized.
That’s good. They have an abundance of that in Seattle and Portland.
“I thought they had salmon ladders to help the fish..................”
They do but the salmon don’t know how climb them plus they got no feet.
Does this mean Portland will flood and wash out to the ocean? 🤔
I’m all the more disappointed because this guy is my congressional rep.

Did you see the ‘Statist of the Week’ piece by Idaho Freedom Foundation?
“We are presenting our Statist of the Week award to two outstanding individuals: Mike Simpson and Bruce Newcomb. Yes, Mike and Bruce both served as speaker of the Idaho House of Representatives.
Mike, of course, is a sitting United States congressman where he specializes in camouflage, I mean, blends into the crowd so adeptly he’s hard to distinguish from liberal Democrats. Way to go Mike!”
The biggest problem seems to be too many seals, who are eating too many salmon.
Just in time for electric cars. Yay!
From Answers.com :
"According to the US Dept of Energy, the last (currently active)reactor built was the "River Bend" plant in Louisiana.
Its construction began in March of 1977.
The last plant to begin commercial operation is the "Watts Bar" plant in Tennessee, which came online in 1996."
So, the last operating nuclear power plant was built over 25 years ago; the average commercial nuclear power plant is productive for about 25 years,
at which point the license may, or may not, be renewed by the Dept. of Energy.
The power plants are owned by the DOE, but licensed to commercial vendors, and are considered Federal property.
Always know where the closest nuclear power plant to your location is located and who it supplies;
generally speaking, the closer your supply of electricity via nuclear power, the more reliable and cheaper it remains.
Washington is de-certifying our former coal power plants, that have been converted to NG. Too efficient is my guess, they provide competition for the wind and solar. Also, long term this State wishes to tear down dams on the Columbia river, for the fibishibing Injuns.
