Ok I am a computer guy. And Working cyber security and I went to that 1:38 point and someone needs to explain to me because what they were talking about seem to be BS
They talked about Source and Destination IP.. which is good. But
Then they talked about Source and destination computer ID..and I’ve never heard that term before...
What they seem to be calling computer ID is what a computer person would call the Layer 2 MAC address... In the hexadecimal format they were showing seemed to be again a MAC addresse
Mac is the physical address of that ethernet interface..the NIC...and that is not routable..it’s not pass beween two computer over the the internet..
So I need more technical details because they eather left something out or they are blowing smoke
If they are taking a point to point vpn tunnel were the source and dest systems look to be directly connected..maybe
I’m gonna give them the benefit of doubt that they dumbed it down.. way down for non technical people but if they did they dumb it way to far down
I want more information ..
Maybe they have software that digestive information and spit out in that format but just seem strange..
So anyone in the know translate.. because that sure wasn’t the “Seven Layer”
All of the destination computers belong to state and local governments, so those computers should be identifiable down to the specific machine. If you have ever worked in a government environment, they know exactly what happens on each machine, what websites a user accessed, what transactions they processed, what documents they wrote, reviewed, retrieved. Every government machine I have ever seen requires unique personal login even a tape or chip ID so they also know WHO did what. Like Snowden said, the NSA sucks it all up, retains it, looks at it if any individual becomes their target - and that is for personal computers, cell phones, so it is more so for govt computers.
