Science is pretty close to a functional HIV vaccine. The last two versions were effective for the variants they targeted but HIV mutates from host to host so they lost effectiveness rapidly. Interestingly sars Covid ii has similar spike proteins to HIV which explained why no human on earth has natural immunity to it just like no human has immunity naturally to HIV. The real question should be how did sars Covid ii end up with HIV spike proteins. Being created in a lab with those added on so no human could resist infection would be a good explanation.
