Three people died Wednesday in rural Washington County after a man forced his way into a home and tried to steal a vehicle, authorities said.
Authorities originally announced two people, including the suspect, had died during the incident, but a late Wednesday evening press release from the Washington County Sheriff's Office reported a third person had also been killed of an apparent gunshot wound.
Someone at the home called 911 about 2:50 p.m. from the 8100 block of Forest View Road in the Town of Kewaskum and said the suspect forced his way inside and was "demanding the keys to a vehicle," the release said.
Before police arrived, the suspect fatally shot a resident of the home.
About 2:56 p.m. a neighbor called 911 to report hearing shots fired. The neighbor said the suspect was walking toward his or her own home.
Sheriff's deputies arrived and "there was an exchange of gunfire with the armed suspect," the release said. Then the man ran away.
Authorities closed nearby roads and began to search for him, eventually finding him with a drone. Deputies approached to find him dead from a gunshot wound. They also found a gun with him.

I did not shoot the sheriff and I did not shoot the deputy... Needs a song.
Too bad the folks in the home were not themselves armed and shooting.
Yep. Carry even at home, folks. It may do you no good whatsoever if you can’t get to it in a hurry.
What about the homeowners?
This was a terribly written article.
Just wait until the Covid distance learners hit the job market.
God help us.......
I know a few (once) co-workers that live in Kewaskum.
I know that none of them were involved cuz they all own guns.
