President Joe Biden, a pro-abortion Democrat who professes to be Catholic, encouraged Americans to respect their “fellow human beings” Thursday during the National Prayer Breakfast. His comments come days after forcing Americans to fund the Planned Parenthood abortion business.
The president was one of several Democrat and Republican politicians who spoke during the 69th annual event, which was held virtually this year due to the coronavirus, according to the Catholic News Agency.
Biden’s remarks and his first actions as president contrast sharply with those of President Donald Trump who, during the 2019 National Prayer Breakfast, condemned abortion by calling on society to cherish “the dignity and sanctity of innocent human life.”
In his taped remarks Thursday, Biden spoke about the challenges of the pandemic, political unrest and racial injustice in America, CNA reports.
“For so many in our nation, this is a dark, dark time,” Biden said. “So where do we turn? Faith.”
He urged Americans to unite as the country works to stop the coronavirus, and encouraged people to recognize that the dying are not Democrats or Republicans but “fellow Americans, fellow human beings,” according to the Religion News Service.

“This is not a nation that will stand by and simply watch this,” Biden said. “That is not who we are. That is not who faith calls us to be. In this moment we cannot be timid or tired. There is too much work to do. It is by our work and not just our words that we are going to be judged.”
But many have lamented that Biden’s words about unity, compassion for fellow human beings and his Catholic faith do not match his actions.
In one of his first acts as president, Biden repealed Trump’s efforts to protect unborn babies and mothers through the Mexico City Policy. In doing so, Biden restored taxpayer funding to some of the largest abortion groups in the world, groups that abort millions of unborn babies every year and pressure pro-life countries to legalize abortions.
Not only did the act contradict Biden’s supposedly devout Catholic faith, it also detracted from his calls to unity. A January Marist poll found that a strong majority of Americans (77 percent), including Republicans and Democrats, oppose taxpayer funding for abortions overseas.
In contrast, Trump, who condemned abortion at the 2019 prayer breakfast, defended unborn babies in both his words and actions.
“We must build a culture that cherishes the dignity and sanctity of innocent human life,” Trump said at the 2019 event. “As the Lord says in Jeremiah, ‘Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you. Before you were born, I set you apart.’”
He also slammed the governors of New York and Virginia for promoting abortions up to birth and infanticide. And he called on Congress to pass a ban on late-term abortions to protect unborn babies who are capable of feeling pain.
In action, Trump defunded Planned Parenthood and other abortion groups through his Mexico City and Title X policies, cut off taxpayer funding to research using aborted baby body parts, protected pro-life medical workers from being forced to help abort unborn babies, nominated pro-life judges to federal courts and more.

For any true Christian, “faith” is meaningless without context. It is not an end unto itself. What matters is who the object of that faith is. These leftist politicians, who actually hate God, and see genuine faith in Him as a challenge to their power, only pay lip service when necessary by appealing to this nebulous “faith.” They will never mention reliance upon God, and they certainly will never ever say the name, “Jesus” (not “inclusive”).
