No, he’s not. He’s trying to set up a fake defense of President Trump by the GOP Senate. The GOP will vote to acquit after the usual GOP suspects like Romney make a pinata out of Trump. Then the GOP will run around until the midterms saying how they really supported Trump. A lot of Trump voters will be duped by this bit of beltway theater and will stay on the GOP planation.
