The elderly are the least likely to benefit from the vaccine for the same reason they are the most likely to die from Covid-thymic involution, the shrinking of the thymnus gland that begins at puberty or earlier and results in a decreased ability to mount a defense against novel pathogens. this is why the elderly are especially susceptible to novel pathogens like covid. Children, on the other hand, have a thymus gland that is perfectly suited to coping with novel pathogens.

What type of skilled nursing home was the one in question?
Nursing homes have different skill levels or might specialize in certain type care of diseases.

Much important information is missing.

For example, if the Nursing Facility handles more renal disease and cardiac patients, the death rate is going to be higher than a primarily dementia facility.

But the article leaves that out.
