GOP Sen. Pat Toomey says Trump should resign, questions impeachment timing

Republican Sen. Pat Toomey on Sunday called for President Trump to resign because of the riots carried out by his supporters at the US Capitol last Wednesday, doubting whether there is time left in his presidency for impeachment to make its way through Congress.

“I think the best way for our country … is for the president to resign and go away as soon as possible. I acknowledge that may not be likely, but I think that would be best,” the Pennsylvania lawmaker said on NBC News’ “Meet the Press.”

“It does not look as though there is the will or the consensus to exercise the 25th Amendment option. And I don’t think there’s time to do an impeachment. There’s 10 days left before the president leaves anyway. I think the best thing would be a resignation,” he continued.

Toomey is the second GOP senator to call for Trump’s resignation after Sen. Lisa Murkowski.

I wonder how fast Toomey was running to get away from those flag carrying American citizens on Wednesday?

The best thing for the country would be for Pat Toomey to do something about the monstrous corruption in his state.

He should do that for the citizens of his state who voted overwhelmingly for Trump, and then saw their vote stolen by criminals in Philadelphia.

If he can’t do that, HE should resign.

And Trump ain’t gonna let them Nixon him, which was the design all along.

If Trump resigns, Pence becomes President. And Nanzi becomes VP and vacates her House seat?

Was “Riot” actually asserted during the protest?

Well, I think Toomey should resign. I know he won’t, nor will President Trump. My opinion will probably have more effect on Toomey than he has on President Trump, since he has zero.

Our congress members need to come on national television, one at a time, and apologize for being cowards who ran away like scared chickens when American citizens came to present their grievances.

Until they do this, all I can hear from them is,

“Cluck cluck cluck”.

There were a number of Democrats that called for Bill Clinton to resign, and he DIDN’T. No one saw that as an act of defiance!

Frankly I think Toomey ought to shut up. He doesn’t know what he is talking about if he thinks Trump’s fans had anything to do with riots. Maybe Toomey is pro antifa and BLM...that makes more sense than accusing Trump supporters of riots. Certainly Bobbits’ death was somebody other than a Trump supporter.

Secondly, it is very interesting that I neither saw nor heard any rational statement concerning the voting irregularities that occurred in PA come out of Toomey’s rosy red lips. I heard a man say he intended to vote twice because there was nothing to stop him. I wonder what Toomey knows.

I wonder what Toomey’s interest is in all of this? Maybe he’d like to see it all go away and Biden/Biden’s wife, Kamelatoe etc. all take over?

Toomey has been strangely silent considering he considers him self a member of the GOP. Maybe he is really a marxistsocialistrepublican.

The beauty of the current situation is that the RINO never-Trumpers continue revealing themselves. With the algorithm and vote switching etc. that took place people who know the numbers believe that it is likely that President Trump received more than 60% of the legitimate vote. So one has to wonder how smart it is to let everyone know that you approve of the efforts to silence President Trump and his supporters and continue mischaracterizing recent events.

No, Nanzi would not become VP. There would be a vacancy in the VP office until January 20th. Normally, the vacancy would be filled by appointment and approval by the House and the Senate, but there is not enough time for that.
