That’s my worry. I can source water and have a decent amount of food. I don’t have a fireplace and probably only have enough propane for a couple days.

Flip side, we have lots of winter camping gear

“...only have enough propane for a couple days.”

Not sure what your set up is but if you have Buddy Heaters or other propane canister fueled catalytic heaters you can get adapters to fit to the five gallon propane tanks.

A fireplace won’t keep you warm. A wood stove will. Are they ‘allowed’ in Maryland?

Frozen water pipes inside will thaw and have to be repaired. In many homes the pipes are in the walls, so the fix is more than just thawing pipes, walls and floors will need attention. It takes evil people to do these acts to people during the winter especially.

You might want to turn down the thermostat now a bit to try to conserve what you have left.

Can one survive with enough blankets and only go out when you have to cook? I do not know your local temperatures, physical fitness, etc... I would start setting up that winter camping gear just in case. Maybe even do it inside the house, LOL, but you may need that place to cook outside.

And I would immediately start with layering your clothing: the number of layers are more important than the thickness because it traps air in between each one, which acts as an insulator. Recall that mild exercise will help (ex. push ups), provided one does NOT BREAK INTO A SWEAT!

Think layering 3 pairs of socks, long johns if you have them, multiple long sleeve shirts, a hat, a scarf, gloves, lots of blankets and so on...maybe high calorie foods?

You may want to call the police non-emergency line and ask for advice or help. I would do that now before you actually run out.

We recently move to an all electric house. Told My Wife the other day let’s ditch this POS electric stove/oven since We both hate cooking with electric. I’ll put a piece of Plywood over the stovetop and get a Camp Stove that uses the propane cans to place on top. The oven can stay for baking.

Then if the power goes out We can move the Camp Stove into one of the smaller rooms, use the camp stove to boil H2O, cook and heat the room. (with proper ventilation of course.)

Believe it or not, a couple burning candles in a cold room can raise the temp 10-15 degrees. Used that trick many times.
