Simple fact of life...
No one gets out alive.
I am sure you have no desire to expose others, but the reality is, everyone is going to be exposed to this at some point... that’s the reality... period.
All this chicken little be a coward is nonsense.
If you know you are sick, then by all means self quarantine, but the idea that masks, or lockdowns or anything else will prevent you from being exposed to this is laughably absurd.
It’s best to have no opinion on containment measures taken until you understand the numbers.
Extrapolating to March, there will be 25% more deaths of 65+ people in the March-March timeframe this year than in normal years. That is happening with all measures taken.
Society has to decide if it will tolerate more deaths in that age range by shutting off all containment measures like lockdown and mask. Or if it cannot tolerate that 25% excess number and must have even more restrictions.
The measures question is separate from the numbers. Understand the 25% number first. Then make your call.
And BTW, 25% increase in 65+ deaths will likely take society’s overall life expectancy down a year or two. 77ish, not 79ish.
I applaud you for your consistency. My example was more in line with public exposure, not relegated to private gatherings such as a church group where the pool of exposure is limited and known. On a plane, over 200 people could’ve been exposed to this person. If I traveled on a plane and found out a week later that I tested positive for the antibodies, I wouldn’t be calling the airlines to tell them that I testing positive for COVID. I see that akin to yelling fire in a theater because someone turned on the flashlight on their phone.
They just had to throw that in. I suppose it has better impact than calling it the .05% deadly virus.
What is your source for the overall deaths of people 65+ increasing by 25%? That is a very significant figure.
According to the CDC, influenza is 2ay down this year.
They’re claiming due to WuFlu mitigation efforts.
Which is a hoot since they also claim WuFlu is widespread.
This is such a crock....
If anyone deserves HCQ or Ivermectin, it’s this guy.
It’s the excess deaths page. All causes, deaths up significantly this year. Most of those are Covid, of course, and there is talk of overcounting Covid, but there is also talk of undercounting. The old codger who stays home (lives alone) to fight it off, never sees a doc, dies quickly. Covid killed him but he never got tested and is taken to the morgue and cremated. Very common scenario.
But . . . the numbers. 1.7 million people over 65 die each year in a normal year. 25% of that is 425,000. The official Covid death count is presently 331,000, with 3 months of winter to go to March. 425,000 very credible.
Clear statistics and the fact he’s been around patients this ENTIRE YEAR and has been fine.
No one gets out alive - so very true. I like to remind people who would lock us all away ‘for the children’ or whatever is that the death rate still hovers right at 100%.
Obviously the guy didn’t die of COVID. He obviously died of a heat attack.
He died with Covid, but will be added to the list of those dying OF Covid.
Welp.
More people should be like you.
“now data has proven that compressions can be done without rescue breathing.”
That is for laymen rescuers who may not be fully proficient. Chest compressions allowing adequate chest rise on an adult to a max depth of 2.4 inches allows for adequate profusion of blood with some gas exchage occuring in the lungs due to compressive effects on the chest.
However, if properly trained and having an oral mask or a barrier or if a bag mask is available, 30 chest compressions to two ventilations is still preferable if able to perform the procedure as a single rescuer.
If not fully proficient in rescue breathing, do 2 minutes of chest compressions, call for help, and keep doing chest compressions as able until help gets there. Good efficiently performed chest compressions maximize perfusion of at least partially oxygenated blood and is often better than sloppily done cpr with poor rescue breathing especially if one is alone. If in a public place call for an AED.
Okay, thanks for the clarification.
Thankfully, I never had a rescue that called for CPR. I just saved a toddler who went into active drowning (terrifying) and had to respond to several seizures.
I will NEVER willingly get certified again. We had two lawsuits filed with our club (in each case, the guard acted correctly, the idiot club member was just hoping to get some cash.) However, I’m dead certain that if the suits had merit, the club would have thrown the guards under the bus.
A millennial friend has Covid. She was a staunch mask proponent(as they all are) but I noticed her FB feed showed a complete lack of social distancing.
Why was he doing mouth-to-mouth. It’s not recommended. Systematic, non-interrupted chest compression is now recommended.
When old people lose taste/smell, they tend to quit eating and drinking. A friend’s mom got it and they had to force feed her.
You don't know that. The long term effects of this virus are unknown. The long term effects of the vaccine are completely unknown.
That is a myth. I have see. plenty of healthy going people end up in ventilators and even die from covid. The odds are not high but if you are one of the unlucky ones it is 100% for you....
