Legalize Meth and the other drugs. Then that won’t be a crime...

I know you were being sarcastic, but I will drive your point home with this: Alcohol is legal. He’d face the same charges if he was drunk.

Ahh... one doesn’t fall asleep with that amount of meth in your system. He might of thought the bicyclists were shadow people.

During my years of drug counseling I’d ask each the meth users how many days or longest they would’ve stayed awake before crashing. The most extreme cases were 29 days without sleeping the longest was 32 days.

I have known and worked with people with the same issue. Never knew anyone that was an a 32 day crank binge, but after five or six days, they are bat poop crazy.

No one more crazy than a middle age dude on crank.

Are you for real? Seriously? I'll confess total ignorance, but I would never have guessed anywhere near that. Lord, don't people die from lack of sleep?

Drugs or not I think it ‘s simply insane to allow bicyclists on major highways used by big semi trucks. I know the cyclists will strenuously object but the two are simply incompatible. No matter how carefully planned the cycling events are, accidents will happen and cyclists will get the worst of it.

"...incompatible..."

Are motorcycles allowed there? How about modest-sized sedans?
Or does everything need to weigh 15,000+ pounds to be permitted?
This is precisely the banning technique gungrabbers use, BTW...

“The killer looks like he has Down’s Syndrome. He don’t look right.”

A few too many meth binges will do that to a person.

Motorcycles are different - they travel in the lanes and at highway speeds. Bicycles are moseying along at 10-15 mph while traffic is whizzing by at 65+, so there is a huge speed differential.

"Choices have consequences," Clark County District Attorney Steve Wolfson said.

Agreed. A bunch of idiots made the choice to ride their bicycles on a highway. Too bad they were killed but smarter decisions about where to go cycling could have saved their lives.

It’s not the size, it’s the speed. Ask yourself why bicycles are mostly restricted to bike lanes on city streets. I used to drive trucks and when they’re fully loaded it takes a while to make a panic stop under the best conditions. Coming onto a bunch of bikes hidden by a curve is a problem for a loaded semi traveling at 80 mph or faster, which is the new “normal” on interstates — I just got back from an 800 mile trip so I know that for a fact. I guess if cyclists want to risk their own butts they can.

Doing that is simply shifting blame to other innocent road users.
It was a straight, open, and clear road during daylight hours with riders undoubtedly wearing bright colors with their ubiquitous strobes.
The fatalities were caused by a speeding DUI driver, blasted on meth, who failed to maintain control and smashed his truck into other lawful road users.

The INITIAL report said this:

“The uninjured truck driver remained on the scene, cooperated with investigators, and impairment does not appear to be an issue, officials said.”

It didn’t say anything about an arrest. Clearly that didn’t happen until the results of the blood test came in.

At the time of the original articles you reference he hadn’t been arrested. duh

He was arrested yesterday, ten days after the wreck.
