This has always been the point of wearing a mask. It’s why surgeons wear one while operating. Why is that so hard for people to understand?

surgeons wear masks because they cannot cover their coughs or sneezes while operating so it keeps large particles from falling in the operative field. It does nothing more than prevent gross contamination if the field

Surgeons wear one to prevent mouth bacteria from falling into an open wound. Nothing else. And studies show this doesn’t reduce infections in patients post-surgery anyway. Plenty no longer do it unless pushed to by patients or fear of lawsuits.
