The left is again showing that it can’t stand anyone who disagrees
NY Post ^ | November 5, 2020 | Glenn H. Reynolds

This year’s presidential election hasn’t provided the catharsis that many on the left were awaiting. Instead of the hoped-for “Blue Wave,” we have a still-too-close-to-call presidential election, while Republicans picked up House seats and appear to have held on to the Senate.

One response might be self-criticism: to wonder how, after four years of single-mindedly trying to get rid of Trump and marginalize his followers, things didn’t go better. Instead, Democrats’ thinkers seem to be asking themselves variations on “How can I live in a country where half the people supported Donald Trump?”

...

professors around America were expressing anger and claiming to feel “genuinely unsafe, given the sheer number of people willing to vote for Trump.” Some canceled classes for the rest of the week, apparently because of the emotional strain.

An article in The New Republic by Andrew Cohen asks: “What do we do with all these Trump supporters?” (Spoiler: “Learn to live with them and respect your differences” isn’t on the agenda.)

...

Chris Arnade. Asked “Why did anyone vote for Trump? Anyone?” Arnade replied: “Cheap answer is, some people are frustrated that a professor of philosophy makes three times what they do for cleaning their house, or making sure they are supplied with electricity, or keeping them safe from muggers, or cooking them Pad Thai, only to then be talked down to” and “scolded.”

People can tolerate differences in wealth and power. Sanctimonious scolding is less tolerable. And treating half the nation as moral lepers is itself a moral failing.

And, as Arnade suggests, bad politics as well.

Try 5 times.

The left, now that they are in complete control, will do whatever we allow them to do up to and including execution of the loathed and deadly Trump supporters.

Way back when the internet was a new thing allowing people to connect and share, I recall Progressives at my work were very excited at the opportunity to finally bring light to the ignorant masses and win the argument with the Right once and for all.

Of course they were completely naïve on this point. In reality Progressivism depended on NOT having an open discussion where everyone could hash things out, and instead filtering a narrative through Education and Media institutions.

The internet boomed and it was not long before the Left started losing the argument and started looking at ways to censor and discredit those whose ideas won on the merit. And even punish them for disagreeing.

So you had the rise of cancel culture mobs, and over time more and more aggressive big tech censorship.

What happens next? Who can say, but the point may be amusing as the Left goes all totalitarian on free speech that they really thought that free-speech was the greatest thing ever just a couple decades ago.

I am disgusted with the NY Post’s recent articles attacking Trump. It has caused me GREAT pause in wanting to read it any longer. So that leaves me with NO newspaper I actually trust for the news.

No, the left is *not* in complete control.

And they have well over 70 million of us to deal with.

We need one or two brave red states to say enough! And break away, I’ll bet the others would follow very quickly and just set up a new government. Texas start this!!

Instapundit Glenn Reynolds (https://pjmedia.com/instapundit/) is now published in the NY Post. He severed his long-time relationship with USA Today after they refused to publish his recent article about the Biden scandals.

John Hinderaker wrote about this at Power Line today:

Screw the lefty propagandists at USA Today.

I was just out on my balcony, watering my plants a few minutes ago. My Orthodox neighbor Henry, a divorced man in his 70s, passed under my balcony and greeted me. He asked me how I was, and I responded, "I'm upset because I'm worried about the election results. There's been a LOT of fraud and cheating documented."

Whereupon Henry, a Dim, started screaming at me. He told me I was a "delusional idiot" for believing that there was voter fraud, etc. He started on a riff about what a crook, etc. Trump was. "I'm from NY and I know Trump. Look at Trump University! $50 million dollar fraud!" I asked him what about Hunter Biden and his father. This, he shoved aside. I asked him where he got his information. He said CNN, MSNBC--all the fraud channels. He claimed he also listened to conservative outlets--naming FOX NEWS as its representative. I told him I'd just removed Fox news from my news feeds due to their swing to the left and their obviously biased reporters. He started a new riff on me, I'm a delusional idiot and that's what I am, etc. I asked him to cut out calling me bad names. I pointed out that I didn't come over to his balcony and start calling him bad names and hadn't even done so at this point. He said he won't talk to me any more. THAT won't keep me awake, trust me.

Can you believe this? A man frozen in the 1970s.

Ronald Reagan: "Well, the trouble with our liberal friends is not that they're ignorant; it's just that they know so much that isn't so."

Since Reagan said that, leftists have made great strides in their ignorance.

Okay, fair enough. But the left already has a stranglehold on academia, social platforms, Hollywood, unions on down to the lowest local political offices. Not to mention complete control of the American intelligence agencies. And they're emboldened and in your face. So, in light of that, what will happen to give us any chance at fighting back? “Election reform? Ha.

My condolences. You’ll probably get blamed now for everything that goes wrong in the neighborhood.
