I don’t think that the author is saying the Obama-Biden did anything better. It does t say that Trump did anything g better, either. It sounds like the guy is bemoaning the abandonment of the Middle East as the focus of interest of the Trump administration, but doesn’t want to return to the days of Obama, focusing on the creation of the Muslim Brotherhood caliphate.

I think that Trump hit just the right note on Middle East relations by doing an end around on the Palestinians. He realized that peace in the Middle East was never going to happen as long as that peace was centered around the Palestinians and the Palestinians didn’t want peace. Kamala Harris wants the focus back on the Palestinians.
