It's a great question. Especially since I saw an interview with Rudy, just released today, where he said that he only found ANY of the audio recordings on the laptop just a couple of days ago.
IF true, this would dispel any myth that he had all this information already sorted, correlated, and properly prioritized for maximum effect during his controlled rollout.
Rather, it would indicate his plan was to horde the information to his select circle, to maximize his appearance of power, rather than just releasing it all in WIKILEAKS fashion, and let other competitors raffle through it, which would have diminished his role, but likely have created a larger buzz, and effect, overall. Just my thoughts, since this question isn't going away.

Do you people realize the thousand and thousands of e-mails and information these guys have had to wade through? Not to mention photos, videos, and what ever else Hunter incorporated into his lap top...and “hidden” beneath his fake fronts numerous companies and peoples he had business with and who and what these were and are.....And then somehow to connect it all together.
Yes, Bannon is deeply involved in this slow roll plan. He was also fired by Trump for insubordination, and has been arrested and is facing a trial for criminal fraud. Is he keeping the focus on himself, longer than actually required, in search of a pardon? Just keeping it real. The election is what matters, not Rudy, or Bannon, in the grande scheme.
Rudy is a lawyer, and the former mayor of New York, and what we in the biz call "a person of a certain age".
People of this description don't "do" computers. They have people for that.

On Wednesday night’s show, Tucker Carlson reported that his team had acquired incriminating documents. However, they sent them from Washington to Los Angeles, and the documents disappeared. And they neglected to make any copies. So now the only copy of the documents that would nail the probable next President of the United States are gone:

Of course, and that's one of, if not the primary, reasons why I don't think it was a good plan to horde the information. More people looking means it could have been gone through faster.
It could have even created a competition on who could break what news first, more likely resulting in a deluge from multiple sources that couldn't have been so easily ignored. WIKILEAKS was the proven process, not this.
That said, I still hope it works. Those guys are pros, not me, obviously. But over half the country has already voted now.
