Around the year 1000 the muslims in Spain also massacred a large number of Jews, impaling or crucifiying them. In context, this was sixty years before William crossed the channel to take England, and about 100 years before the first Crusade.

Actually, a lot of Muslims feel that way. I read that in Afghanistan, Muslims would give up information after a minimal amount of discomfort “because Allah will win anyway” so strong resistance was unnecessary.
The Quran says [9.39] “If you do not go forth [in jihad], He will chastise you with a painful chastisement and bring in your place a people other than you, and you will do Him no harm; and Allah has power over all things.”
So Allah doesn’t care either.
