China Lake is out in a big desert. Doubt the “brush fire” amounted to much vegetation loss.
I always remember China Lake from a story from my grandfather who was out there 50 years ago because he was looking for new places to fish and followed the signs. Eventually got to a guardport where a soldier kindly let him know its no lake and he will need to turn around.
