My current assumption is they took it in order to bury it (like Weiner’s laptop), and didn’t know that the shop owner would make copies and send to Rudy (and possibly others).

Hunter Biden is not running for president. Hunter’s shady business deals that involve kickbacks to his father are VERY important news. Hunter’s strange sex life is mostly a distraction. If he were arrested for statutory rape, that would be somewhat interesting, but it would still be news about Hunter, not Joe.

FBI Arizona tells him to buzz off.
Then, local LE shows up and ask if the hard drive contains pron. Why would LE ask that question, unless they had knowledge of Hunters interests?
Then, Grand Jury subpoena shows up, delivered by FBI Child Pron investigator.
That part of the story stinks
