I agree, but the errors did not start with the Pope and Magisterium. They started with errors from theologians and lower level clergy. The Popes and Magisterium then met and clarified fundamental principles that lead to abuses and error.
In this case, you have the Pope advocating for the acceptance of blatantly heretical ideas. Morover, their doesn’t seem to ba any significant push back anywhere in the Catholic Leadership.
The RC Church is extremely heirarchical. You can only have the correction of error IF the leadership recognizes it and corrects it. When the leadership agrees (either overtly or covertly), then changes are impossible. Your notion that it will get fixed relies on the beleif that the leaders will “see the light” and fix it. They know exactly what they are doing; they are not making such statements in good Christian Faith. They are fully content to destroy the traditional teachings on this issue....and this isn’t the only one. Wait and see what else comes down the pike.
The errors WERE in fact at the top and were not corrected until 18 years of the Council of Trent.

As an outsider, I don’t think so. For traditional Catholics, the core doctrine is “The Church Is and can Only Be Right”. To admit the Pope has erred in doctrine means that they are no longer Catholic.

At least go study Church History before and after the Reformation.

I have, and though no one can effectively study it all in extreme detail, I am wondering when the Council of Trent had to rectify an error proclaimed by a previous Pope.
Do you have a specific Papal error in mind that was corrected by the Council of Trent? I’m not trying to be difficult, it’s just that I’m not sure what issue/doctine you have in mind.
When Jesus ascended, James, His half brother, was the leader of the Jerusalem church. Peter was an apostle like the other 11 (when Paul was accepted). What happened for the next 300 years, (America is only 250 years old), was the building of the church started by the life and death and resurrection of Jesus and the apostles spreading the Gospel throughout the Land.
They observed the Leviticus feast Days, along with all the Jewish Laws that Jesus did. Mat 5:18 tells us that Jesus wants His people to follow the Laws setup in the Torah forever.
With Peter starting churches throughout the Middle East, like all the other brothers, the Gospel they spread was what Jesus told them to teach. It was the 7th day Sabbath, and all the Feast Days of the Lord taught in Leviticus 23. The Gentile believers that Paul received kept the Law as best they could, just like the Jewish believers.
Then Constantine, a Roman Caesar, became a believer. That is why they call it "The Roman Catholic church". He ordered all Rome to become "Christian". Who believes that you can order someone that the Holy Spirit hasn't called to Jesus to become a believer? So he introduced pagan non believers into the church by force. To make them happy, the church changed the Sabbath from Saturday to Sunday, the same day pagans worshiped the Sun god. Along with this the RCC forbade believers from anything Jewish. No keeping the Law, no "Jewish Feasts", nothing "Jewish". Jesus was Jewish. He came to the Jew first. If He is the Word, then it was Him that told us what holidays to celebrate. Jesus kept every Law and custom of the Jews. Plus He sits on His throne in Heaven as the Lion of the Tribe of Judah. The RCC stopped all that and made it illegal.
The prophesies about Babylon revealed in the Tenach, OT, came true through the man made church of Rome. They were referred to as "Babylon" in the OT. Nimrod taught that he, a man, was a god, and he could build a way to Heaven without YHVH. They worshiped any god that wasn't the true God. Through the centuries, these same gods were just called by other names, but were still Babylonian gods no matter if they were called Zeus, Jupiter, Venus, Mars, ect. Constantine just kept worshiping carvings and statues, but called them Biblical names. They even had the "Moddona and child" and the "mother of god" thousands of years before Mary was born. Semiramis was called the mother of god because when Nimrod died, she bore Tammuz and said god had been reincarnated as Tammuz.
Anyway, much of what the RCC does today matches what the Roman mythology did and the Greek mythology did. Much of which is strictly forbidden in Scripture. Worshiping statues, icons, paintings, photographs, ect are all covered in the 10 Commandments. I've talked about standing in front of statues and praying so many times and you all just say "I'm not worshiping a statue". Then why do it? Worshiping is defined as bowing, bending a knee, and other things all the way to laying prostrate on the ground. Paul told Timothy that there is only one Mediator between God and man, that is Jesus, yet you insist on asking any of the 12 apostles and Mary to intervene for you. They can do NOTHING for you and in fact you are blaspheming Jesus when you do that.
Forbidding to marry is the doctrines of demons according to Paul. Speaking many words in repetitive prayers doesn't mean a thing to God according to Jesus.
Any novice reader of the Bible should be able to find these things, but you've been taught that only priests can understand the Word given to us by God. The RCC has murdered more Christians than all other religions on earth (Rev 16:6 Rev 17:6-7 Rev 18:1-10)
The church at Thyatira (Rev 2:18; Thyatira was the daughter of Semiramis)is the RCC. There is still hope for you if you leave the RCC.(Rev 18:4) But you can't stay in the whore of Babylon and live. Believing that Jesus is the Son of God and that God has raised Him from the dead, then you are saved, but you can't hold on to all this other man made fiction you've been fed.
The RCC here on FR seems to think the RCC has just now gone south with a new pope. They have had bastard popes in the past that were put in office as children. The whole history of the RCC is a mess if you just seek out the truth. It has been corrupt for all of it's history. It is antisemitic, which is against God's people. It fits all of the verses spoken of in Revelation as the Whore of Babylon. It follows doctrines of demons. It changed the Sabbath, a day God spoke of in the Ten Commandments. It canceled the Feast days in Leviticus 23 and replaced them with Easter and Christmas, both pagan days. Easter is English for Ishtar, the Babylonian god of fertility, and Christmas celebrates the birth of Tammuz.(read Eze 8 to find Tammuz and a Sunrise service in the Temple)
Your new pope is just more of the same. The only hope for you is to choose Christ and reject the RCC. Complaining about a man messing up is what the Protestants have been going through for decades now. The church of Jesus Christ will be made without spot or blemish by HIM. No man can do that.

A "rock" or stone in Scripture is ALWAYS speaking of Jesus. The RCC made the "Rock" a man in Mat 16. This is why they will give god status to a man as the False Prophet of Rome will anoint the Antichrist in the Last Days.
