Trump Confirms More Federal Judges in First Term than Any President in 40 Years

President Donald Trump often boasts of his accomplishments in nominating federal judges, and for good reason: at the close of his first term, he will have confirmed more judges to the federal judiciary in one term than any recent U.S. president.

As of October 5, according to the Heritage Foundation, Trump has confirmed 218 judges to Article III courts — that is, the “Supreme Court of the United States, the U.S. courts of appeals, the U.S. district courts and the U.S. Court of International Trade.”

On October 26, that number will rise to 219 with the confirmation of Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court.

There are a lot of long in the tooth judges to be replaced in his second term.

Much as I love his rulings, if Trump is Re-elected and the Republicans hold the Senate, Justice Thomas should be encouraged to retire so his seat can be filled with a much younger Originalist.

Maybe we’ll even get lucky and get to replace Breyer or the Wide Latina.

Also, there are some more Circuit Courts to shore up and a few more to flip.

They judge shop until they get a Clinton or Obama judge. Judge shopping should be illegal, but Obama judges here have given them the advantage here this election.

If anyone in AZ has loved ones in nursing homes, make sure that your loved one is able to cast a PRIVATE ballot. Otherwise, ‘caregivers’ are now allowed to cast their vote for them (ostensibly with the resident’s ok).

Yea, but since some of them are not 100% pure conservative in their rulings (only 98% pure), they are NO BETTER THAN DEMOCRATS.

(at least according to some people here)

The question I have is this: will Republicans and others leaning Right reward the President by turning out in massive numbers this election. I am hopeful, but skeptical.

This and immigration are the two reasons we voted for this man both in the primaries and the General election.

Nothing else matters.

It was a Trump judge who said Trannies are covered by the Civil Rights Act of 1964. It’s a fools errand to count these judge chickens.

Ruth Bader Ginsberg's situation does raise that as a real concern. But replacing Thomas will be a monumental task. Gorsuch is not terrible but he's no Scalia, can we really find a rock solid replacement for Thomas and get the RINOs to confirm him? Eventually he will leave the bench, either of his own accord like Kennedy or by God's, like Ginsberg. But unless we have a rock solid replacement lined up I wouldn't rush it.

It’s great that so many judge vacancies have been filled under Trump.

The headline and article are wrong, though, for stating that the judges were “confirmed” by Trump. Confirmation is done by the Senate, not POTUS.
