Sounds like Fun,
Till it ain’t!
Bella Twin,
Interesting name,
Great teaching tool.
I killed my first Deer w a 22
Dropped it right where it stood
That single shot Rifle sits right behind me today
The Deer I dropped ... 1971
Yes I would recommend hollowpoints. Ive got both types for practice and hunting.
*** “I finally scored a Ruger 10.22” ***
Way behind ... I have 11 of them for the Range
3 are the short stocks (Young Child size)
I mostly I use single shot 22’s when I instruct youngsters at the Range but they really like moving up to 10-22’s and burning up all that ammo (they remind me of me)
I also have a few 10-22’s just for me w optics (I’m old and iron sites are no longer my thing)
No. Never shoot a bear with buckshot, unless its in the head. Any hairy critter will have hair slow the shot, and it will trail the shot into the wound. Penetration is terrible.
A relative in another state shot a .22 rifle at a bear trying to break into the chicken coop. He fired at the ground hoping to scare it off and hit it in the foot. It high tailed it for the woods and hasn’t been back.
My sis had a big bruiser black bear in her yard this morning. Her property is adjacent to a wooded water drainage corridor that the bears use to cross from one side of town to another.
Heimo Korth uses 12 ga. 00 buck to kill grizzlies that encroach onto his ANWR homestead.
It is all about range and shot placement.
I have killed bears with buckshot.
Close range head shots dead bears.
Jack O’Conner was one of the most famous Outdoor writers until is dead from the 30’s on.
He did like the 270 Winchester caliber not exotic at all still is one of the best selling calibers out there.
Yeah, that's the guy.. He wrote several books that I very much enjoyed reading.. He hunted big game all over the world.. :)
Yup. Shorter hair on the head, and a very vital organ not too far in. A lung shot could be fatal...eventually, but youve got a mighty pissed off bear in the meantime.
