From the perspective of late-night joke writers, theres really only one person running for president.
A staggering 97% of the jokes Stephen Colbert and Jimmy Fallon told about the candidates in September targeted President Donald Trump, a study released Monday found.
Thats 455 jokes about Trump and 14 about Democrat Joe Biden, according to the Center for Media and Public Affairs at George Mason University. That doesnt even count 64 jokes made about Trumps family or administration, the study said.
When Trumps onstage, everyone else is blacked out, said Robert Lichter, communication professor at George Mason.
Hes been studying late-night humor and politics since 1992. Republicans are usually targeted more than Democrats by the comedy writers, but the difference has never been this stark. The closest was the 2016 campaign, when Trump was the punchline for 78% of the jokes to Hillary Clintons 22%, the center said.

Did these guys ever tell any Obama jokes???
Late Night Shows = Ultraleft Stalinazi Propaganda.
Not if they wanted to stay employed. Late Night died in 1992 when Carson retired.
Biden - Has Cesar Rodney rolling over in his grave
I heard Fiddy cents turned in his race card today. He just ain’t black.
joe is just biden his time until his concession speech
Obama was given the “kid gloves” treatment. They mostly left him alone unless it was complimentary, like the SNL skit after Osama was killed.
Hard to mock an old demented has been, its just not funny...
Joe Biden is a joke, not sure if there are any good jokes you could tell about him though.
Were there any Walter Mondale jokes? I’m hoping Joe Biden is the Walter Mondale of 2020.
Leno and Letterman were ok for a few more years. It was certainly dead by 2000.
Coasting on fumes. Leno was too much of a kiss-ass and P.C. and Letterman became a different person when he switched to CBS. At some point he became a really evil bastard, obsessed with spewing leftist hate (especially after his heart surgery - maybe they removed it ?). Set the template for the garbage on now.
The only two that seemed to remain intact with the spirit of “late night” shows without the hate was Tom Snyder and Craig Ferguson. But those were the exceptions. The other problem remained that the culture changed for the worse to the toxic nightmare it is now. The guests from the old school that made watching the shows a treat were replaced with the new generation of talentless, ultra-politicized hacks that were cookie-cutter banalities. I could see where it was headed in the ‘90s.
We have funnier jokes about Biden, Clinton(s) and Obamie here at FR than you get from most so-called liberal/leftist comedians. And it doesn’t cost anything. We do it out of love for our country.
Hey Jimmy Fallon! Here’s some free jokes:
Why is Biden running for President? Didn’t he steal enough money already?
Why is Biden running for President? Hunter’s running low on meth.
Why is Biden running for President? Hunter’s knocked up another hooker.
Well, you have to admit that Jokes about slobbering, demented, child-molesting criminals who have drug-addled rapist children, and who have been destroying our nation for nearly half a century, aren’t really that funny.
Strangely enough Letterman did tell one.
Somehow “multiple personality disorders” got into the news.
Letterman said that Mondale didn’t think it was fair for some people to have more than one personality when there were others who didn’t have any.
I doubt he’d get away with that today.
I never understood why he’d want to assume Carson’s show. Letterman was a different type of show and interviewer that was too zany/offbeat and would’ve required a radical adjustment for him and becoming someone and something he wasn’t.
Leno was more the kiss-ass “hanging on every word” soft type suitable for the Carson slot, not the edgy Letterman. Stuff you could do on Letterman wouldn’t work on Carson, just as Carson’s stuff would be too sedate for Letterman.
I liked Leno fine. I also watched some Conan back in the day when he was after Leno.
Never liked Letterman, came off as such a prick.
The Scottish guy, how he was good, should watched more of him.
