This was the big obstacle, that Senator Menendez (D, NJ) threw in the way of an Israeli peace deal with the new Government of Sudan (which has their former islamist dictator Bashir in jail, facing a possible death sentence).
To be fair to the Senator, it is a serious issue, beyond the likely election season desire to deny Trump (and Israel) a win before the election.
With this debt of the old regime cleared, an Israeli/Sudanese peace deal could be back on the fast track.
They’re way too late to deny Trump a win, several wins back.
I don’t know much about sudan. Of course that amount is a joke over here for our government to give out. But I wonder how substantial it is to them.
