The Royal Navy hasn't been a viable Navy for decades. Even with the HMS QEII, they are a 3d rate seafaring nation. As for the Army, they are already less than 1/2 the size of the U.S. Marine Corps. Like our Marines they are abandoning tanks. NATO and us still have real enemies, but if we don't bail them out, they will have no choice but total surrender.
Whats wrong with HMS QEII?
According to this article, the British army has more generals than tanks. Some see this as evidence of decline. But I see it as a great advantage. Suppose another land war break out. Every British tank could be commanded not by a sergeant or a lieutenant, but by a general!

To complete your point, besides the two QE2 carriers and 4 Vanguard boomers subs, the Royal Navy has only 6 destroyers, 13 frigates and 7 attack subs.

Not only does our Marine Corps have more ground combat capability than the British Army, the USMC has far more aviation than the entire Royal Air Force -- more fighters, more attack jets, more attack helicopters, and far more heavy lift helicopters and medium lift aircraft (now MV-22 tiltrotors in USMC). The decline of Great Britain's entire military structure is alarming.
And one other thing... The RAF doesn’t have enough F-35 Lightning aircraft to fully equip one of its QE-class aircraft carriers. For that reason, HMS Queen Elizabeth sails with two F-35 squadrons, one from the RAF and one from the United States Marine Corps - currently VMFA-211 from Cherry Point, NC.
