Trump's tough stance on the Chinese Communist Party is winning him support among a swathe of Asian American communities...
What mainstream media and Twitter activists do not understand is that, when Trump tweets out China virus or shouts China must pay a price for what it has done at his campaign rallies, these comments are not anti-Asian. In fact, many, many Asians love it.
See, Asians are not some unified bloc which acts all indignant when Trump attacks China. Many Asians do not see that as an attack on them, but instead as an attack for them. Anti-Communist and anti-Chinese sentiment run deep in many Asian communities, with the beef often going back centuries between Asian countries. Assuming Asians are united is as naïve as thinking Brits and Russians will agree on anything just because they are all white people.
If we dig through the data, we can find that Trump has made astonishing gains among Asian American communities that have overwhelmingly voted Democrat in the past, as well as consolidating and reinvigorating traditionally Republican voting bases. In 2016, according to exit polls released by the liberal activist group the Asian American Legal Defense and Education Fund (AALDEF), Hillary Clinton crushed Donald Trump in the Asian American vote by a margin of 79%-18%, which makes Asians the most solid voting bloc for her after African Americans...
But fast forward four years, and one will be astonished to find that Trump has made tremendous gains among the Asian American vote. According to the 2020 Asian American Voter Survey/AAPI Data poll sponsored by the liberal Asian Americans for Justice group in September, Biden is only leading Trump 55%-30%...

It wraps up by saying:
"China is perhaps the best get out the vote machine for Trump. Every time Trump attacks China, he actually gets more Asian American votes, not less. Also remember that 15% of Asian voters remain undecided. If half of them go Trumps way on Election Day, he might win 40% of the 2020 Asian American vote, double the votes he got in 2016. They are the fastest voting group in America and can play a significant role in many battleground states. Immigrants who fled socialism in their home countries may well become part of the bastion protecting America from falling to the left itself."
Trump having Modhi here was a big, big deal.
Here is more grist for the electoral mill.
May be concentrated in some swing areas - e.g. a lot of Vietnamese in Northern Virginia.
the vast majority of Asian countries hate China... the China virus has severely destroyed many asian-owned small businesses (restaurants, dry cleaning, convienence stores, etc)
also, similar to Latinos - Asians do not like weakness, like Sleepy Joe... who they think is too old and sick for the job... they respect strength, and that’s Trump
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a breakdown of Asian voters into various nationalities, as far as how they vote.
Polling that the company I work for does (polls which are only semi-political and not for any candidate or party) indicates that Indian-Americans are one of the most liberal groups out there. Maybe that’s just a California bias in the polling, but I don’t think so.
Several different Asian groups parading in cars and waving flags when he was in Walter Reed.
All of the anecdotes are pointing to Trump, but all of the “data” indicates that Biden is ahead by a bazillion-gazillion points just like Hillary was. Everything hints at Trump except for the polls. If the pollsters are wrong ... AGAIN ... will we finally be able to move on from them? If Trump wins or even comes close, some of these people should probably do the honorable thing (in traditional Japanese culture).
Stupid leftist Karens assume a critique of the Chinese Government is an attack on Chinese.
Chinese-Americans arent children as Leftist assume. Just as criticism of Putin is not a criticism of ethnic Russians, Chinese know the difference between race and a government.
Chinese don’t vote. Has to do with jury duty.
How is it possible that Trump is UP from every demographic group (Blacks, Latinos, Jewish, Asian, LGBTQ, etc) he lost badly with in 2016 and yet be “so behind” in the polls? Makes no sense.....it defies logic!!!
I live in the SF Bay Area and my kids go to school with a LOT of Asians and Indians, and I know those parents are not very happy with UC and Cal State and universities in general who discriminate against their high achieving kids in college admissions.
I have noticed a swing to Trump in the Indian-American community. Potus has placed more high ranking Indians in his administration, like #2 at HHS and in his Press Office. Nikki Haley was the UN ambassador. He elevated Judge Neomi Rao to Justice Kavanaugh’s old DC Circuit position and she’s now a Scotus possibility. He has shown respect to PM Modi and to India’s position against China. All of this has been noticed and welcomed.
“They are the fastest voting group in America and can play a significant role in many battleground states.”
I ran track in High School. How fast are they? =)
Thank you for that. It certainly backs up the data we have for persons from India (unfortunately).
The purpose of the plus eleventy billion polls is to bring plausibility To Bidens fraud
Many Chinese are what we would call conservatives. If they were the kind of people who would sympathize with Democrat party goals, they would not have left China. They vote Republican.
Their children, on the other hand, are often quite liberal, having attended American schools and often having attended upper-echelon universities.
There was a significant brouhaha a few months ago on WeChat, which is sort of the Chinese equivalent of Facebook. An ABC (American=Born Chinese) girl attending Yale had written a column criticizing her parents for being racists and talking about how “woke” she had become and how she supported BLM and the rioters.
This caused a great deal of criticism toward the girl. The girl’s father was unhappy with her, but her mother supported her and agreed with her. IIRC, the mother is herself a professor at some university.
Nice article. Thanks for the post and ping.
