50% would be a considerable amount of money. An inquisitive fellow might be interested in exactly how that money was laundered. Was any of it 'on-books', or did it all go to foreign accounts? One might think the FBI would be interested in knowing if SlowJoe have any Swiss or Caribbean bank accounts. Somehow I doubt the FBI is looking at that at all. Should be really easy to trace through FINCEN.

This is absolutely key to the whole thing.

The Ukrainians couldn't just cut Joe a check, but they *could* hire his son, pay him a ridiculous salary, and Hunter could then give "Pop" his cut.
