Unlike the other networks, Faux sold their entertainment arm. They aren’t subsidized by a Comcast or AT&T. If their ratings and ad revenue tank, they are done. Put differently, the news arm of Faux is Faux while AT&T can count on CNN as a money sucking tax write off.
I’d like to see some form of “trust busting” where each media outlet can have one owner and one owner can have one media outlet.
Oprah wants a magazine? OK. No TV show.
Disney wants to make movies? OK. Nothing else.
etc.
The idea that 6 big media companies basically control all “messaging” is just awful. There should be about 50,000 individual owners controlling the messaging and they should all be struggling to product a product that gets good ratings.
