That sounds like self-defense to me.
I wouldn’t want to be disabled by bear spray, especially close to hostile protestors.

Given Colorado law, self defense is going to be an uphill battle for Dolloff.
He was trained in handling a gun. He was clearly not (adequately) trained in handling security roles such as the one he was engaged in.

The only hostile protester was on the same side as the “security guard” guy who shot the peaceful protester who had the pepper spray.
