In an unprecedented emotional speech to the North Korean people, Kim Jong-un wept and apologized for failing to raise the nation’s standard of living.
Just minutes before, Kim was seen grinning like a schoolboy in his first visit to a strip club as he reviewed a massive military parade that featured huge new ICBMs.
Kim has been full of surprises recently, and this appears to be another calculated move to buttress his “man of the people” cred. But that’s not going to put food in people’s bellies after a summer of crop failures and natural disasters that have made feeding his people a grave challenge.
This from Reuters:
“Our people have placed trust, as high as sky and as deep as sea, on me, but I have failed to always live up to it satisfactorily,” Kim said, at one point appearing to choke up. “I am really sorry for that.”
Kim said the country’s success in preventing a coronavirus outbreak and overcoming other challenges was a “great victory achieved” by the citizens.
“Our people have always been grateful to our Party, but it is none other than themselves who surely deserve a bow of gratitude,” he said.
Hardly the usual propaganda harangue about party and country. But you have to wonder how much of Kim’s emotional jag was for international eyes. He may be preparing some kind of major outreach to dramatically increase food aid and needed to be seen as being “human.”
Kim has been more personally present and visible at disaster reconstruction sites and the like, and he’s prioritised a lot of the symbolic construction projects designed to show economic progress.

Or is Kim going gay and ICBM is the new name for what he saw at the strip club?

Is a “strip club” in North Korea, the same type of establishment as a strip joint in America? I didn’t think regimes such as North Korea would allow such western decadence into their countries???

North Korea is a very sad case. That country has a powerful military, while their people are starving and living at a subsistence level.
He’s doomed. You know, there was a golden opportunity with Trump for him to sign a peace deal and have a decent future. I think he was very tempted. But our deep state and intel community lead by Bolton pushed for war, and Congress did all they could to sabotage the negotiations by pushing the idea Trump would soon be removed.
But with the Kadaffy dead in the street from Cankles, despite his deal with Bush on WMD, and seeing the US Government traitors swarming around Trump, Kim correctly assessed that any deal he signed would be dead the minute Trump left. Congress including the GOP acted like this could be weeks or months away.
It’s probably impossible to calculate the damage done to the world by the treason of the deep state with their ongoing coup against Trump.
I believe that their military is a Potemkin Village.
He already has massive foreign aide avaiable to him... all he has to do is give up the nukes!
But China is not.

NK has been in poverty since I was a kid, and I am well over 80.
Just a thought,and probably wrong, but maybe China had a heart to heart with Rocket Man and told him they couldn’t afford to subsidize Norklandia anymore.
The Chinese economy is an extremely shaky house of cards and recent events aren’t helping.
The natural disasters causing rice and vegetable shortages, the diseases wiping out the pork and poultry industries and finally the CCP virus causing them to lock down huge areas of the economy.
They simply can’t afford a state like North Korea that they have to completely subsidise.
That or fat man DID nearly die and has had some sort of change of heart/personality.
I’m betting on the China angle myself.
Trump can help you there, Kim, if you want it.
