A high school principal in Florida who was fired last year after telling a students mother not everyone believes the Holocaust happened might be rehired this week.
Superintendent Donald Fennoy has recommended that the Palm Beach County school board rehire former Spanish River High School Principal William Latson and give him $152,000 in back pay, news outlets reported. The board is set to meet Wednesday. The recommendation follows a Florida administrative judges August ruling that Latson should not have been fired.
The school board voted 5-2 last October to fire Latson on grounds of ethical misconduct and failure to carry out job responsibilities. The official justification for his termination was failure to return messages from school district officials in the days after his comments made international news.

They are going to re-hire a Nazi apologist?
The documentation of the Holocaust is pretty thorough. Thorough enough that we executed people for it.
The media never provide enough info to make any sort of determination.
I assume if this is happening after an actual investigation that the discussion was probably benign and taken out of context and the teacher was not denying the holocaust or anything along those lines.
But it’s hard to know if info comes only from the media.
Maybe he could just watch the home movies the Nazis had. The ones they showed at Nuremberg.
Fact of the matter is that it’s almost impossible to fire a member of a public school union unless they’ve been convicted of a felony.
Maybe he meant the Holocaust was “just a concept”.
In an email conversation with a parent in 2018, Latson wrote that students could opt out of Holocaust lessons because not everyone believes the Holocaust happened and that as an educator he had the role to be politically neutral.
Pressed by the parent, he wrote that I cant say the Holocaust is a factual, historical event because I am not in a position to do so as a school district employee.

It seems that nothing causes people to remember the Holodomor, and I think we're even starting to forget about The Killing Fields, Rwanda, East Timor, etc.
Classic “some people did something”.
Yes. Sounds bad.
But like I said, this is from the media.
An investigation would be much more comprehensive.
Superintendent Donald Fennoy should get fired too.
“They are going to re-hire a Nazi apologist?”
Yep! Evil dude. Wants students to be in classrooms.
Eisenhower had the Army Signal Corps film the camps because he said in 50 years some son of bitch is going to say this never happened.
The tapes are available on youTube, Mr. Principal.
Could he speak definitively about Lincoln's assassination, the stock market crash of the 20's, what General Sherman did to Atlanta, or would he be prevented from doing so "because he was a school district employee"? What a CYA prevaricating dope.
The high school principal claims the Holocaust was just an idea and not a real happening. He may also think that math is racist, and the 1619 Project is true.
If so, the principal may have, in the past, had a total lobotomy.
“The media never provide enough info to make any sort of determination.”
Yep. Too bad there is only this one article.
He needs to recognize that denying the Holocaust is as offensive as say, denying slavery. Pretty damn well documented.
Well, how about this — “I’m not convinced that black people were ever held as slaves in America.”
I hope this guy isn’t offended by “my truth”.
