President Trump dismissed a published report on Sunday asserting that he paid only $750 in federal income taxes in 2016 and 2017, calling it “a total fake.”
“It will all be revealed, it’s going to come out,” Mr. Trump said of his tax records at a White House press conference. “I paid a lot [of federal taxes], and I paid a lot of state income taxes, too.”
He didn’t say how much he has paid in federal income tax in those years, saying that he is still under audit by the IRS.

The super-rich often take a token "salary".
Someone like Warren Buffett takes 100K per year, so yeah he pays a lot less in income taxes than his secretary.
IIRC, Bill Gates takes a dollar per year.
Trump doesn't make his money by punching a clock and getting a w-2 at the end of the year.
Although I'm sure he made a nice amount as a TV star.
Also had ownership of The Apprentice, which made him a LOT more.
Trumps' POTUS salary is probably chump change to him.
The rich make their money in investments, stocks, bonds, etc.
Taxed at much different rates than just what the average person pays.
People with very high *salaries*, like Patrick Mahomes get raked over the coals at tax time.
But I'm sure HE takes every deduction possible,and has a top notch tax attorney doing his returns.

It is the obligation of the American to minimize his taxes anyway he can.

OK, Pres. Trump says the story isn’t true, and he paid a lot more than that in income taxes, both federal and state.

I would have found it almost impossible for anyone to have the exact same $750 tax liability in two consecutive years.
That and the ‘Nothing 10 of the past 15 years’, while we apparently know one of those years it was $38 Million.
Romney paid nothing...Trump paid $750.
When John Kerry was running for President if I recall correctly he paid 6% of his income in fed taxes.
It was when it became very apparent that there are one set of rules for tge left and a different set of rules for honest contributors to society, who would call out the corruption if they ever gained power

I read the story it’s all this attempt at summarizing his businesses and taxes for 20 years and trying to put the worst light on everything, including speculating that he might face certain financial stresses in the future.

I think the reports fake, especially since Trump denied the report. And it's close to the election the fake news blooming season.
But Trump gave up his role in his companies, so he's not drawing a salary from there. He donates his salary from being president. What income does he have?
His income would be mostly passive. If he's not selling assets, or reaping dividends from investments, then yeah, his income for 2016, 17, 18, and 19 might be really low, thus a low tax bill.

I heard where he takes extra long and really hot showers at the White House. And doesn’t pay taxes on either the water or the heat that he used.
Given how many times that “THE NEW YORK SLIMES” has been caught publishing OUTRIGHT LIES on a variety of subjects, WHY would anyone of “reasonably normal IQ” believe anything that they publish??
