Sen. Lindsey Graham, the chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, said Sunday that an escalated timeline for Supreme Court nominee Judge Amy Coney Barrett will allow for a vote before Halloween as a number of lawmakers said her confirmation is all but assured.
So well start on Oct. 12, and more than half of the Supreme Court justices who have had hearings were done within 16 days or less, Graham said on Fox News Sunday Morning Futures.
Well have a day of introduction. Well have two days of questioning, Tuesday and Wednesday, and on the 15th well begin to markup, well hold it over for a week, and well report her nomination out of the committee on Oct. 22.
At that point, the Republican from South Carolina said, it would be up to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell as to what to do with the nomination once it comes out of committee.
Trump announced Barretts nomination to the court to replace Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg during a White House ceremony on Saturday a week and a day after the liberal icons death at the age of 87.
Republicans in the Senate said they expect Barrett to be confirmed by election day, Nov. 3.
What Ive said was, this needs to take all the time it needs to take, but it doesnt need to take more time than it needs to take, Sen. Roy Blunt (R-Mo.) said on NBC News Meet the Press.
And hes laid out a plan that I think meets all the standards of past hearings and could be done before Election Day. If for some reason its not done, well do it after Election Day, but I think were likely to get this done sometime in the month of October.

Is Linda Graham a McClellan or a Patton? Hmmm. Discuss among yourselves …
It wouldnt be fair to the nominee to face a committee hearing without any preparation time.
Nov 3rd makes it a question that she can preside on cases brought to the court in a timely fashion?
Perhaps on whether the she can give imput as a sitting judge on the SCOTUS in any way?
Some Dems on the committee have said they won’t even meet with ACB, why wait till the 12th??
They should be voting on the 12th, not starting a hearing.
“..well hold it over for a week...”
WTF?
To who’s benefit?
Personally, I would rather skip the hearings and vote. That being said, the dynamics here are a little different than Kavanaugh.
The GOP had a 51-49 majority in 2018. In addition to Collins and MooCowSki, Flake was also there showboating.
Today, its a 53-47 Majority.
The GOP can lose 3 and still win.
Collins and MooCowSki were always going to flake out. Romney still might, but it becomes much harder to find the 4th.
Gardner, Grassley, Tillis, Alexander and Capito are probably who the media would try to flip.
Gardner, Tillis and Capito are all up for re-election and any one of them will lose if they vote no. I think they know it too.
That leaves Alexander and Grassley and both are very close to McConnell and I think he has them locked up.
Lady Lindsey is a pussie. Where the other two land Im not sure but Id like to meet the man that called Patton a pussie to his face. No reason to wait get it done. IMHO
He will screw it up. Why wait so long?
Pretty weak Linda, it should be October 2nd!
Why does he need 10 days??? Why is he slowing it down.
And Im sick of Linda begging for money on FOX.
Better late than never, besides it will be a good b-day for me.
I want this BASTARD to lose I am FED UP with him!!! Send money to John James instead!! SCREW GRAHAM!!
“Is Linda Graham a McClellan or a Patton? Hmmm.”
Definitely a McClellan.
No reason for a vote on eve of election. Do it in 2 weeks. Linda is a fag.
You don’t need a whole GD’ month Lyndsey, and you know it. You’re just guaranteeing she won’t get a vote before the election. I’m done ever giving you the benefit of any doubt, you liar.
Unfortunately, all of the posters on this thread are not U.S. Senators, and the Senate decides how to execute the confirmation process. Graham has no choice but to do this. Democrats demand it, and quite a few Republican Senators want the same thing. These Republican Senators are not our friends, they don’t like Trump and they don’t like their constituents.
The existing rules of the Senate dictate this process, and Graham and McConnell don’t have the votes to change or waive the rules.
Hang in there. The last time the Democrats had a hissy fit over a Supreme Court Justice, we gained seats in the Senate.
