Real tough guy. Jerk. Even if he’s joking, it would only approach appropriateness if he personally knew everyone he was talking to. Inappropriate for a crowd, regardless if they’re all military, especially in the last 10-15 years.
He’s an asshole. He has the mentality of a mobster.
This has all the hallmarks of a dud bombshell - over-promised but under-delivered, exaggerated effect, out of context interpretation, reverberation in a tiny echo chamber, but zero influence on the larger political discussion.
