Michael R. Caputo, the East Aurora political consultant at the center of controversy over the Trump administration's Covid-19 messaging, has been diagnosed with cancer.

Assemblyman David J. DiPietro, R-East Aurora, acting as Caputo's spokesman, said Thursday that the Health and Human Services spokesman on leave from his assistant secretary post has "squamous cell carcinoma, a metastatic head and neck cancer which originated in his throat."

That’s a tough last leg of the road to be staring at. I hope he doesn’t suffer too much.

The guy’s been through a lot. I think he’s one of the victims of the Mueller investigation. They tried to intimidate and then bankrupt him.

Whenever the word “metastatic” precedes the word “cancer”, it’s often not good, but not always.

I was diagnosed with metastatic prostate cancer six years ago. At the time, the 5-year survival rate was only about 54%. The current treatment of Xtandi only works for an average of six months. I will have been on it for two years in December. It’s working great for me and I hope to get at least another 2 years on it. Lots of other treatments once this is no longer effective.

It seems that prominent conservatives get cancers at at a high rate.almost like they are targeted.

My dads was esophageal but it also killed him in less than a year from diagnosis. To many lymph glands in the neck and throat area. Spreads fast most have low survivability

He had a lump on his neck for several months and didn’t do anything about it until one of the HHS MD’s noticed it and told him it needed to be checked out. These kinds of cancers are really bad news. Prayers up - he’s going to need them.

Dad’s barber found a lump on his neck the size of a lima bean, told him he HAD to get it checked out. That was in the fall. It was the size of a softball by the time they started radiation in the winter.

If I ever get it, I think I’ll just shoot myself.

Dad went from about 180 to 90 pounds in 6 months. Discovered when he had some problems swollowing. Just finished Grant by Ron Chernow and last part is about his cancer of mouth and throat. Really ugly. Excellent biography BTW as are his other bios. I think I’ve read all of them. His book on Hamilton was used in part as basis of the musical Hamilton without the musicals distortions.

Could be the surveillance tech they deploy. And I’m not kidding. It isn’t a team they have to send somewhere. Your ID pops, they forward it to the neighborhood monitor, and it gets pointed at you, usually from the poles.
