Prime Minister Boris Johnson put the UK into lockdown six months ago today. Yet despite assurances that the draconian measure was to “flatten the curve” and give the government breathing room to react, freedoms in the UK remain severely restricted and may yet be further impinged upon.
The national lockdown — in which large swathes of the population were told they must stay in their homes and some businesses were required to close completely — began on March 23rd, six months ago. While the exact nature of the lockdown had changed in time — it is now legal to sleep with someone you don’t live with, for instance, and some businesses are being encouraged to reopen — the UK remains under the government’s corona rule-by-decree rules, with fines and even imprisonment for simple transgressions like socialising improperly or being caught without a mask in some public places.

So if they have been in lock down for 6 months,why is the infection rate sky rocketing now?

WTH happened to Boris? He’s been a standup conservative on Brexit but has gone bonkers over this virus. And his results aren’t any better than Sweden.
Just read some inane market opinion from Canada’s Financial Post wondering why the markets aren’t reacting to COVID 19. Geez, did they miss the massive correction that happened in March? So many here are crowing about an increase in cases. Cases? Despite a jump in cases nominal deaths have NOT increased, but decreased. This has got to be the nicest most sympathetic pandemic I have ever lived to witness.

They [we] haven't been in lockdown for six months. The headline is misleading. Most restrictions were lifted from early July, with only a few rules (masks in public transport/shops, crowd events etc) remaining. The new wave has coincided with the return of many vacationers from abroad, and the return of schools and colleges for the new term.
