[Those familiar with the process said interest inside the White House seemed to be waning for Lagoa amid concerns she did not have a proven record as a conservative jurist. ]
I dont like the waiting a month in fact l think its dangerous and stupid. Any delay and boom you are past the election and that could be catastrophic. You are giving the rats a month to come up with something anything to delay it a few days. If this isnt done before Election Day the rats come out like locusts and the chance of generation could be lost. The rats would this done three days after the announcement. Mitch is just excruciating with the games he plays.
Why are you obsessed with her father-in-law? What about your take on her record as a justice with the FL Supreme Court?
While that is true about her FIL, that really can’t be imputed to her. How many people in the country don’t agree with their in-law’s politics? I bet a lot
More telling is her husband and her parents, the first because it shows the type of person she associates herself with and the second because it shows where she comes from.
Her husband has been called the godfather of the Federalist Society in Miami. He works for Jones Day, a firm from which at least 14 Jones Day attorneys had been appointed to work for the Trump administration. Among other things, he represented the Susan B. Anthony List in a class-action lawsuit in 2018. These aren’t things that a leftwinger would do.
Her father hoped to study law in Cuba but wasn’t permitted to do so because he refused to pledge allegiance to the Communist Party. Don’t tell me that didn’t lead to her being brought up very anti-Communist.
And as far as Lagoa herself, she is opposed by the Alliance for Justice, a super far left org. During her career she worked on the case for Elian Gonzales’ Miami based family against sending him back to Cuba. She’s anti-left.
My biggest concern with Coney Barrett is that, outside of abortion, she has a number of decisions which make you question her on other issues. For instance, he recent ruling on Illinois’ COVID shutdowns.
