The man who killed Beatles musician John Lennon in 1980 says that he deserved to be put to death for the despicable act, according to multiple reports.
Mark David Chapman said he deserved the death penalty while responding to questions from a parole board last month. The board later denied his parole for the 11th time.
I assassinated him .. because he was very, very, very famous and thats the only reason and I was very, very, very, very much seeking self-glory. Very selfish, Chapman said, according to a transcript obtained by multiple outlets on Monday.
I deserve zero, nothing. At the time I deserved the death penalty. When you knowingly plot someones murder and know its wrong and you do it for yourself, thats a death penalty right there, in my opinion, he said.
Chapman called his actions creepy and despicable. He also apologized to Yoko Ono, Lennon's widow.
"I just want her to know that she knows her husband like no one else and knows the kind of man he was. I didn't. I just judged him from a book and I murdered him. He was in a book. He was extremely famous. I didn't kill him because of his character or the kind of man he was. He was a family man. He was an icon. He was someone that spoke of things that now we can speak of and it's great," he said.

He deserved the death penalty for not shooting Yoko.
Savage!
Amen, brother!
I bet they paroled John Hinckley because they thought shooting Reagan wasn’t such a bad thing.
Tough. Keep rotting in prison.
John Lennon wasn’t that good.
Hes not arguing to be released
Oh No!
LOL!......................
No he isn’t, and there isn’t really a way to upgrade him to the death penalty. Too bad for him. He’s in the place physically and psychologically he deserves.
Lol yeah ok if you say so.
And a medal.
All premeditated murderers should get life or the death penalty depending on state law. NO early release, ever.
In My Life begs to differ with you...for starters.
They broke up over fifty years ago yet their songs are still played many millions of times a day - even by those not born for decades after they broke up. In addition, they influenced many, many musicians who have been household names for decades. You may not like them, but they certainly have not reached their expiration date and may never do so.
True dat.
You are a clever one dfwgator!!
