Many of these kids are actually helping out their elder parents. I see it every day...taking them shopping, to the doctor, helping out financially...every circumstance is different.

The numbers don't make it something negative.

Correct. We have an elderly neighbor, husband passed last year. Their son's family sold their home and moved in to look after Mom. Very noble of them.

The neighbors helped out with chores the best we could, but it wasn't the same. Just too much house and yard for Mom to care for alone. They put in an extra parking spot and Mom loves the company.

The demographic in the article are 18-29 year olds. I know it is possible, but really, how many kids in their late teens/early to mid 20’s have parents that need assistance going to the doctor? There parents are probably in late 40’s/50’s...maybe 60s. 60 year olds need help going shopping or to the doctor? How many 18-29 year olds have the financial wherewithal to assist their parents? Some, maybe, but not the numbers in this article. Now, I understand there’s all kinds of variables and situations, but this is/has been becoming more prevalent and I don’t blame the kids...I blame the parents for enabling them.

I see nothing wrong with generations living together....we had 6 siblings, two parents and our sickly grandmother in one house, one bathroom....one small kitchen...on a well....

as long as the younguns are working towards independence, towards marriage, etc....

most of the world has multi generational housing....
