The numbers don't make it something negative.
The neighbors helped out with chores the best we could, but it wasn't the same. Just too much house and yard for Mom to care for alone. They put in an extra parking spot and Mom loves the company.
The demographic in the article are 18-29 year olds. I know it is possible, but really, how many kids in their late teens/early to mid 20’s have parents that need assistance going to the doctor? There parents are probably in late 40’s/50’s...maybe 60s. 60 year olds need help going shopping or to the doctor? How many 18-29 year olds have the financial wherewithal to assist their parents? Some, maybe, but not the numbers in this article. Now, I understand there’s all kinds of variables and situations, but this is/has been becoming more prevalent and I don’t blame the kids...I blame the parents for enabling them.
as long as the younguns are working towards independence, towards marriage, etc....
most of the world has multi generational housing....
