Why are the Left turning on their hero ? Probably because he defended Trump a few days back and that they don’t think they can use him to hurt Trump as they thought before. Fauci as a Trump killer is a dead end. Now if they can squeeze out a sensational story (’Fauci helped create the Corona virus’) then Fauci will have served some purpose.

Fauci is in huge trouble. This so-called public health official has basically been funding biological warfare research overseas. Not a good look.
By the way, Newsweek doesn’t seem to be run by the Left anymore. I don’t know for sure what happened, but the articles they publish are all over the map politically these days.
You're probably right. I can see them floating this trial balloon as a pretext to the new mockingbird memo: "Why didn't the President fire FauXi, knowing that he funded the deadly Covid 19? What did he know and when did he know it?"
