LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Dr. Deborah Birx, from the White House Coronavirus Task Force, met with state and local officials, healthcare professionals and university leaders at the University of Kentucky Monday to review the universitys plan to fight COVID.
Governor Andy Beshear and the local health department have raised concerns about the number of students testing positive campus, but Dr. Birx feels the university has the situation under control.
To every parent who has a student at the University of Kentucky, Im not worried about your students because theyre wearing masks, socially distancing and doing everything thats right, Dr. Birx said.
We asked Dr. Birx at what point should UK stop in-person classes if the number of COVID cases continues to rise on campus. She did not give a specific number but said as long as the university has the ability to identify and isolate those students who have tested positive, as well as quarantine those students who have they may have come in contact with, she thinks the university will be OK.
Dr. Birx also talked about seeing students wearing masks on campus and noted that she thinks a lot of the COVID-19 cases are due to off-campus activity.

Identify and isolate students who test positive? What if the test is wrong??
Fauci and Birx are costing Trump the election.
You think? Well, there are a lot of ignos out there. And, some of them do vote. Can hardly wait for flu season to arrive.
STFU you commie POS
They’re a-holes but aren’t costing Trump anything.
If the UK’s plan is so good, why are they doing worse than us in deaths per 1 million population? https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/#countries
This, despite the fact that certain governors like Cuomo forced nursing homes to accept infected patients, resulting in thousands of easily preventable deaths.
Nevermind, I didn’t read into it far enough. That’s my fault.
She is giving the same cookie cutter speech at every university she goes to. She was at UA (Alabama) recently and said almost the same exact thing she says for UK (Kentucky) here. Just empty words and BS.
That headline is intentionally misleading in my opinion. The goal is to leave the reader with the impression that the United Kingdom is doing something better than the US under Trump.
Headlines are being manipulated to drive a narrative - like last week there were big headlines about a huge spike in cases in Georgia causing a ban on weddings, etc. You had to actually read it to find out it was the country of Georgia, not the state.
I thought she was the data lady, she "thinks"? Show us the data.
The UK’s problem isn’t WuFlu.
It’s the NHS.
University of Kentucky not the UK.
They sure aren't helping. Imagine if quack scientists prescribed national policy regarding "climate change"? Trillions redistributed to other nations, taxpayers holding the bag. This will crush our economy, along with bailing out the Blue states that mismanaged their budgets to buy votes and wild tremendous power.
Neither Fauci nor scarf lady touches the protests.
I’m so tired of this mask crap when all the science says a mask won’t stop a Virus, I propose we settle it once and for all
All Members of Congress SHALL Spend a minimum of 4 hours in a room with at least 5 people infected with COVID, All wearing Masks.
Let’s see if they get the Flu.
Um, I don’t think you got my point. Look at my post 8 and 9. I am emphasizing that they make Kentucky sound like it is the UK intentionally in the headline to be misleading.
Headline is misleading. I thought she was endorsing Boris Johnson canceling Christmas.
The UK recording methods are making the Covid deathrate look higher than it actually is. They are recording covid deaths of people even if they got hit by a bus after testing positive. In fact, if you test positive to Covid at any point that is what you will be recorded as dying of even if you literally shot yourself in the head.
