Renting an RV during a pandemic showed me how road trips are different right now. Here's what to expect before you go.

Oh, it’s in dictionary.com, the arbiter of truth and knowledge since the middle 90s.

Get a grip.

Driving an RV and reliant on restaurants? Who does that?

The company that I contract for issued papers stating that we were working and traveling for said work. Just a memo really on corporate letterhead. Thought it was a waste and rediculous until the hotel said we needed them or they were not giving us a room. I had to walk out of the lobby as my wife dealt with the lady behind the desk. She even made the comment “you must be a Republican”

COVID and these fires has really messed with my summer. First I had reservations to camp in Sequoia National Park, for which reservations are a real pain in the rear to get. Cancelled when they closed the park for COVID. So I switch it up and grab a spot at June Lake, only to be forced to evacuate after 2 days due to the Creek and Slink fires. Then while driving home, I see Sequoia is also on fire, and ALL National Forest in the state is closed.

I’ve got in a few short trips in our local mountains and beaches, and have a few more planned, but it’s been a crappy year for camping in Cali. maybe I should have headed for TN...

Some small town on our way to the u. p. It was unfortunate. Happened this spring when the panic was really in its zenith.

"...The only place we had trouble was Wisconsin when a hotel requested our travel papers..."

WTF?

“Karen” now means a pink hat liberal woman that is neurotic on things like masks, lockdowns, etc.

Maybe they just had a yen for a smoke, and wanted some rolling papers...

We went from Eastern PA to Colorado...not a problem. Stopped in numerous states, ate out every night, hiked, saw Noah’s ark in Louisville, went to Salina, KS and so much more....we had so much fun. I would do it again!

Our RV has a fridge, stove, and restroom. We have traveled quite a bit during the past few months. Stocked our own food and enjoyed it a lot.

I hate giving that secret away! Grocery stores have cleaner bathrooms than restaurants, especially fast food places. My theory is that most of the patrons are 5-15 minutes from home and don’t need the rest room.

Regardless, the the southeast Publix is your best bet for a clean sit down.

Also bed, Bath and Beyond and Office Max and Panera’s are good clean bathrooms as I have used them over the years of traveling.

My job was eliminated due to the virus in April while I was working in Wisconsin.

After that, I traveled all over the state of Wisconsin without any issues. I left Wisconsin at the end of June and traveled to North Carolina. I went south and then east to get there going through Illinois, Missouri, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia and South Carolina before reaching North Carolina. I had no issues.

In late July, I traveled to the Florida panhandle and spent a couple weeks there. I then went back to North Carolina in late August and have just returned to Florida. This last bit of travel was due to starting up a new company with my son.

I have had no issues due to the virus other than trying to find a job.

P.S. I have seen hundreds of Trump yard signs and flags. I have seen less than five Biden signs in my travels.
