You’d need scuba gear, the air will be super heated. Not survivable depending on vegetation and density.

I believe the area around Lake Edison, and the people there, are relatively safe. Here’s a map of the area and the extent of the fire.

Lake Edison is the lake about 15 miles northwest of Huntington Lake/Lakeshore. And I believe the fire is moving north. The people are trapped at Lake Edison and need to be airlifted because the road (Kaiser Pass Road) has been cut-off by the fire at Lakeshore.

Bass Lake is to the west/northwest of Lakeshore, and is preparing to evacuate. There are lots of cabins and resorts around it.

Edison is way low, there is probably 1/4 to 1/2 mile from the treeline to the water.
