Sheldon Silver finally pays (some) for his crimes

Sheldon Silver is finally getting at least some of what he deserves: real time behind bars.

On Wednesday, Silver, 76, turned himself in at Otisville Correctional Facility, a medium-security federal prison about 80 miles northwest of the city, to at long last start serving his 6 ½ years for accepting bribes (nearly $4 million worth), money-laundering, extortion and other crimes committed as speaker of the state Assembly.

I’m assuming he’s Jewish. Otisville is where they send most Jewish prisoners. It’s described as Medium Security with part being Minimum Security.

On the Bureau of Prisons website they have his release date as “unknown”.They usually have a date listed there...sounds like someone with political pull is involved here.

Silver is Democrat. He was the Speaker of the New York State Assembly for many years. For a very long time, the Democrats controlled the House, and the Republicans controlled the Senate, but both houses have gone Democrat, and along with Andrew Cuomo, they’ve been destroying e. verything they touch. Silver was Speaker from 1994 to 2015
