Johnson was a drug Kingpin who’s organization destroyed many lives and probably is responsible for many deaths as well. Her pardon is very unjust to all the people she harmed.
I am ashamed of Trump for doint this, but I don’t blame him for grovelling for the black vote. If he doesn’t win re-election, we are screwed. So I would rather see him grovel to blacks and throw away his principals than lose to Biden and let Kamala Harris be the next US president.

Possession of a gram of crack is a drug charge. She was a drug Kingpin. She was the person who supplied cocain to the people who sell cocaine who distribute cocaine to the street pushers who sell it to the end users.
Think “El Chapo” Guzman or Pablo Escobar or Manuel Noriega. Not on that scale, but that is the position she was in.
This was not a pusher selling small amounts of cocaine on the street. This was the origin bringing huge amounts in from abroad where it filtered down to the street to hundreds or thousands of people. What about all the overdoses she caused and drug war crimes and killings she caused. Who is going to pardon all the dead people she left behind. They don’t get a 2nd chance.
She was evil in her greed. I don’t have a problem with commuting her sentence, but a full pardon means she never engaged in the crime at all. Spotless record, just like I have, except I actually enver engaged in a crime.
This is complete and total BS. I really don’t give a rat’s ass how much good she is doing now. Her record should not be made spotless as a result of it.

SELLING HIGHLY ADDICTIVE DRUGS THAT KILL PEOPLE AND DESTROY LIVES IS *NOT* A “NON-VIOLENT CRIME.”
They should not be handing out pardons for making lots of money from something as heinous, lethal and destructive as selling addictive drugs like heroin — as if that crime was harmless and okay. These scumbags are making money from destroying lives and killing people. They are equivalent to serial killers.

I can’t say that he called. Or maybe he did, and I was outside rebuilding an old retaining wall. But I would ask that you to read up a bit on this Alice Johnson. She was a major cocaine trafficker. Yes, she has a nice smile. But she ruined countless lives. People are sitting at home tonight crying over the lives she ruined. I’d bet on that.
Trump was played in this particular instance.
Trump wasn’t played. He knew what he was doing and that is, groveling for votes for re-election. If it works, no harm no foul. So one person got off scott free and justice was not served. Pretty minor compared with everything else going on right now.
Trump was wrong to do it, but if it wins him re-election, then he will have the ends justify the means.
Your post is very cynical. It is also probably also correct. I suppose pardoning Alice Johnson is not unlike letting those Nazi rocket scientists go free.
Maybe the ends do sometimes justify the means.
And this is what Kanye was trying to get to happen.
And it never occurred to Obama to give her or thousands like her a pardon.
