Latest Marriage Data Suggests Dark Future For America If Things Don’t Change Fast

The future of our nation is at risk if we don't take action to reverse the damage that has been done to marriage, family, and parenting in 21st-century America.

Perhaps the most important document to come out of the U.S. Senate this year was released last month, and while a report on President Donald Trump’s tax returns, another COVID-19 relief package, or infrastructure legislation likely would have gotten major media attention, this important document flew under the radar.

The report, titled “The Demise of the Happy Two-Parent Home” and produced by the Social Capital Project of the Joint Economic Committee Republicans, dealt with our nation’s crumbling infrastructure in its own way: the American family and how its decay has infected all aspects of society.

The report states, “As sources of social capital, few relationships are as important as the family ties between parents and children.” Yet according to the congressional report, more than 45 percent of American children, by the time they reach late adolescence, spend some time without either a mother or a father in the home.

Eighty percent of black children are raised by a single parent, as well as two-thirds of all children whose mothers have less than a high school education. More than half of Hispanic births are out of wedlock, as are 28 percent of Caucasian births, up from 2 percent in 1960.

Good marriages and happy homes are a rarity. Keeping miserable marriages together is abusive.

the wrong people getting married is miserable. Usually its 2 people who bonk like bunnies before they get to know each other. They get married when the bonking is good and find out in 6 months what a monster they married. . He’s a cheater or shes a baby who needs someone around 24/7. Then throw in a kid and the disagreements get heated. Dont bonk anyone you wouldnt marry, and dont marry a stranger!!!

This author needs to read the Rational Male by Rollo Tomassi before he writes another vapid article about marriage.

I don’t necessarily disagree with his conclusion that restoration of 2-parent families is important, but we aren’t going to get there without some HUGE (Hugh?) changes in societal attitudes and policies.

Marriage and family under attack? It would be very interesting to see how feminism factors into this equation.

“Keeping miserable marriages together is abusive.”

Miserable by who’s standards?

1) Physical Abuse - marriage needs to end, no doubt.
2) Serious Substance Abuse - same.

After that it gets murkier. Sure, great for the parents to part ways when they get tired of each other, and if no kids, no problem

But, at what point do the interests of the kids matter? And yes, kids can take parents screaming at each other once in while. My kids came out fine, and it was a often a lot more than once in a while. They would have not had such a happy childhood if they had to live in 2 homes, with new boyfriends/girlfriends giving them crap (and often abusing them).

We USED TO try to balance out the concerns of the kids before granting divorces...not no more!

What future of America? The current 50-state “union” is a failed marriage in itself.

Given the fact that nearly every study shows children do best in stable, two-parent homes where they are biologically related to those parents— which makes them less apt to experience physical, emotional, or sexual abuse, less likely to live in poverty, and more likely to have better health, exhibit less aggression, and do better educationally — is it any wonder that with the breakdown of the family, we are seeing increasing numbers of directionless and destructive young adults?

Bold text is mine.

A very important point that the author overlooks for some reason.

Children fare best in a home in which they live with their married biological parents. They are far less likely to be abused in a traditional family unit.

Father was married 6 times
Mother was married 4 times
Middle Brother was married 4 times
Youngest Brother was married 2 times
Wife’s Mom was married 2 times
Wife’s Father was married 2 times
Wife’s Middle Brother was married 2 times

My wife and I just celebrated our 30th

We’re going for the record of my paternal grandparents — 80 years before they died only a few months apart at 100 and 98

Too late. America made a huge mistake in allowing Hollywood to shape the minds of our young and in allowing whores, whoremongers, fags and drug addicts to gain legitimacy.

While we slept, our children grew up admiring the dregs of society. There's no way to put that genie/demon back into the bottle.

Why get married when you can have a stable of F**k buddies?

That's part of the left's presentation on their version of American Socialist Utopia.

Free pu$$y for EVERYONE!

( This message was brought to you by President Bill Clinton.)

(The left does not even begin to know there is a lot more between men and women than this.)

Key to a lasting marriage;

Ephesians 4:26

Do not let the sun go down on your wrath.

Or don’t go to bed angry

Or don’t carry a grudge.

Or just get over it.

The idea that happy adults is important is a leftist idea. Years ago children were of such importance that adults stayed married for their sake.

Later the outcomes of such decisions were measured and turns out, the standard wisdom was correct. Children raised out of wedlock are damaged (see inner city behavior) and children of divorce are damaged less (see measures of well-being and willingness to become parents themselves). Children raised in a family (mother/father) are the bedrock of societies. They are how societies perpetuate themselves. They’re why marriage is (and always has been) the foundational social institution.
