(CNN)Black newborn babies in the United States are more likely to survive childbirth if they are cared for by Black doctors, but three times more likely to die when looked after by White doctors, a study has found. The mortality rate of Black newborns shrunk by between 39% and 58% when Black physicians took charge of the birth, according to the research, which laid bare how shocking racial disparities in human health can affect even the first hours of a person's life.
By contrast, the mortality rate for White babies was largely unaffected by the doctor's race. The findings support previous research, which has shown that, while infant mortality rates have fallen in recent decades, Black children remain significantly more likely to die early than their White counterparts.
Researchers from George Mason University analyzed data capturing 1.8 million hospital births in Florida between 1992 and 2015 for the new study, which was published Monday in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America, also known as PNAS. When cared for by White physicians, Black newborns were about three times more likely to die in the hospital than White newborns, the researchers found.

Serena Williams pretty much started this new lie. When she was giving birth to her daughter, she RE-developed an existing condition of blood clots (PEDs?) She made the claim that because she was black her complaints were ignored, and she almost died. yes the same Serena Williams worth over One-Hundred Million Dollars.

Well, I guess black mothers have the option to hire black doctors, if they think white doctors provide inferior care.
I do know that even when our options were restricted, I avoided Pakistani doctors for my daughters.

My thought and also the possibility that the better black doctors get gigs at better hospitals and white doctors just learning or at the bottom of their class end up in poor hospitals because the better doctors get better gigs.
Reminds me of the Nazi propaganda against Jewish doctors in the Nazi children’s book “The poisonous mushroom”.
Look that one up; there is a college that has a translated version online and if you read it pay close attention to the section that deals with the Jewish doctor and the German girl.

I was thinking the same thing. The highest risk births will already be prone to a higher mortality, and will be looked after by predominantly white specialists. The raw data may be correct, but I think that the implied conclusion is way off base.
The stated purpose of the study was to support the emerging idea that black patients will do better with black doctors. The entire premise is racist.
