Today’s topic is a bit depressing though. I have long expected people to ‘flatten the curve’ on city living and distribute themselves more evenly but didn’t expect it would get a sudden catalyst this year. I already see a lot of CA plates in the midwest. I’m not sure if it is local natives moving back or a new influx.
The one saving thing about New York, at least for the short term, is that if a person retains their New York job they will still pay taxes there. It is one of the 5 or so states that tax telecommuters. New yorkers would have no tax advantage to leave new york if they still worked for a new york based employer.
