Cities go to extremes with quarantine crackdowns: Checkpoints, power shutoffs, steep fines

Some travelers will be stopped in NYC. The interstate in Chicago has signs warning about quarantine requirements

With the daily number of coronavirus cases in the United States still hovering at about 50,000 and American deaths from the disease approaching 160,000, cities across the country are taking increasingly severe measures to force the curve of the outbreak downward -- including power shutoffs, fines and more.

* * *

But cities' coronavirus measures go beyond that. Many places, including Washington, D.C., Chicago, New York City and others now have rules requiring people coming from coronavirus hotspots to self-quarantine for 14 days after their arrival. In Chicago, this is communicated by ubiquitous variable-message road signs above the highway warning travelers that if they are arriving from a place with elevated coronavirus case counts, they are not welcome until they isolate for 14 days.

Those so-called "hot spots" actually include most of the states in the country. The 14 day quarantine is an absolute business killer because most business trips, from my own experience before I retired, are usually one to five days. Is a business executive who flies from LA or Chicago to NYC for a one or two day meeting supposed to quarantine himself for fourteen days on arrival before his meeting? Kiss goodbye to whatever is left of the air line, hotel, and restaurant businesses.

Fine with me. I don’t go to cities anymore. To much BLM trouble there.

Trust me - the Marxists and Globalists have not yet begun to tighten the screws.

Things will get even worse this fall.

They have a war plan, and they are executing it with the precision of a Blitzkrieg.

And we are getting overrun.

I keep waiting for President Trump's counter attack.

And waiting...….

Those quarantines are really a back door way to shut down commerce.

I see this as a practice run on controlling the citizens.

So they are threatening to shut off power and light 48 hours after the party? That makes sense.

Special people, of course, will not have to abide by the 14 day quarantine. This certainly applies to any member of Congress going to DC. Dictators can name any person they want as a special person who does not have to follow the rules that they make.

. If it is the state of emergency declared by President Trump in every one of the 50 states that allows governors to behave as dictators, then maybe it is time to end the national state of emergency.

What happened to our country where we had laws made by legislatures and executives working together? What happened to checks and balances?

Except what are they doing to actually enforce these quarantines? I’ve got a friend in Hong Kong quarantine right now. THAT’S a quarantine. He had to put apps on his phone, check in multiple times a day, and the cops come to visit. Not allowed to leave the hotel room, at all. That’s a quarantine. Other than advising are we actually doing anything?

NYC is the most enforceable where all routes in and out are by bridge or air, except to and from Long Island.

Its’ possible to take a Ferry to LI and just drive into NYC though.

What if people just don’t pay the fines?

That gym owner in NJ said the judge is fining him $10,000 per day for staying open.

The democrats are realizing they don’t need the presidency to implement their communist policies. They can start in their democrat controlled cities and states.

Essential business will be exempted, and will show how utterly worthless these decrees are.

“The democrats are realizing they don’t need the presidency to implement their communist policies. They can start in their democrat controlled cities and states.”

Exactly. Just need a real scary thing to herd the sheep into corals, incrementally — a little at first, then more, then more. Ease them out of their liberties.

That scary thing was dry run last fall in NY at Event 201.

Leftists think that everyone agrees with them:

TRUMP IS THE PROBLEM.

By merely existing, he’s FORCING people to burn down cities.

They believe this to be a winning strategy. It’s because they don’t listen, and they insist on imposing their ideas by force.
