Never thought of being a PUA there...I’d be worried about Chicks Gone Postal...

How much better would it have been to have done this for people leaving NYC 4 months ago?

I was hoping for an F3 tornado to drop out of the storm and visit the governor’s mansion in Albany yesterday.

God had other plans.

International travel is definitely different.

From Wikipedia:
Since the circuit court ruling in Corfield v. Coryell, 6 Fed. Cas. 546 (1823), freedom of movement has been judicially recognized as a fundamental Constitutional right. In Paul v. Virginia, 75 U.S. 168 (1869), the Court defined freedom of movement as “right of free ingress into other States, and egress from them.”

The checkpoints should be halting movement from Manhattan. But for efficiency, how about just collapsing the tunnels and bridges? That and armed patrol boats on the East and Hudson Rivers should work.

I live in Florida and have to travel to Chicago where they recently put in a 14-day quarantine order for people like me. Luckily, my work is considered essential business, so I’m exempt from the order.

Problem is that the client and/or the general contractor wanted me to get tested every time I arrived for a 3-5 day period, citing Florida’s higher infection rate. It was only when I pointed out that the 1.5% rate in my home county was substantially lower than the 2.0% rate in Chicago - and that for my protection, I wanted everyone else to be tested - that they relented, only asking that I get a forehead temperature scan at the beginning of each shift.

I thought about going to New York. Well, if I ever go, I'll skip the NYC zone. That’s the part of the thought that was unpleasant. Of course, NYC could REPENT!

It will be a disaster. Until it is canceled within days if not hours.

Imagine the traffic if they were to stop traffic
BOTH ways to make sure that anyone LEAVING had been
quarantined for 14 days.

If you REALLY need to get into NY state, you can travel through the Native reserve and pick up some tax free smokes on the way

I don’t think you can stop a car just for the hell of it.

That should be the law, but the relentless efforts of those who love the tyranny of the state have created exemptions to that concept.

First it was drunk drivers. Many states have mandatory checkpoints for every driver.

And in most of the country near the borders, New York included, you can be forced to stop at checkpoints run by ICE and asked about your citizenship. In New England the area covered by that law is essentially everywhere. You can sit at a checkpoint in the middle of Vermont, many miles from the border, waiting for a federal agent to ask you questions. Needless to say any real smugglers are nowhere around, the millions of dollars spent on the roadblocks accomplish next to nothing.
